Game Summary: Phillies lose 8-5 to Yankees

84 degrees and a full capacity crowd at Bright House Field Today.

Yankees threaten early with a one out Granderson Double. Former Phillie Raul Ibanez got a two out double and drove in the first run for the Yankees. The Phillies would get out of the first inning only allowing one run.

Hunter Pence in his first at bat of the spring hit a two run home run in the bottom of the first to answer right back.

Cole Hamels completes his day after two innings pitched. Hamels struck out one, gave up three hits and allowed one run.

Dave Bush came in for Hamels and gave up a home run to Granderson, the second batter Bush faced. 2-2 after three innings. Phillies only have one hit through the first three innings.

Papelbon makes his debut for the Phillies today in the top of fifth. Papelbon’s first inning of and only of work was a one- two- three inning.

Dontrelle Willis came in an pitched in the top of the 6th. Willis gave up a one out double, Willis gave up one run on two hits. Willis was leaving the ball out over the plate and throwing lots of balls.

Phillies had the bases loaded with two outs in the bottom of the sixth but Mayberry chased a ball out of the zone and popped it up.

Yankees expand their lead in the top of the seventh off of a two out triple that scored a run and a two run home run.

The Phillies had a chance to get back into the game in the bottom of the seventh with runners on first and second but Phillies hitters chased balls out of the zone and the Yankees got out of the inning.

The Yankees would again add on in the top of ninth with a couple of two out hits. The Yankees lead 8-2 going into the bottom of the ninth.

Kevin Frandson hit a two run home run for the Phillies in the bottom of the ninth. Phillies get a two out double that scores a run and they get closer.

Phillies play the Yankees again tomorrow.
